DIY Chair cover face lift

Hello cyber world!

I have always wanted to try and reupholster furniture, however baby steps, baby steps, baby steps. ;) My husband and I moved into our house the end of October and with the holiday rush, work, and wonderful time with family, decorating has been the last check box on my list. My plans for my entry/sitting room have been all but imagination, until recently. Drum roll please.....

Here is my delightful delectable find in my 1998 Subaru. I love this car and can literally fit anything in here.

Before

Cushion with cover.

This chair is originally from Ikea, however I found it on a local classified for $20. The cover was not exactly the style I was looking for but it was a fantastic pattern for a new and improved cover.

The chair itself was in great condition. Now to get started.

I took apart the cover very carefully so as to remember where each piece needed to go. I left approximately 1 in to spare for sewing and in case of any mistakes.

Using pins to keep the fabric together helps your process of sewing however getting stabbed is not always the most pleasant experience.

The fabric was at Walmart for $2 a yard, it is a cotton blend with a slight stretch.

Half way there!!! I used the tan fabric with the Velcro already sewed on from the old cover and attached it on, saving me a couple steps.

After

The back.

Ta-da. I left the cushion white to give it an accent. I hope this has left you inspired to try something new. Good luck and happy adventures.
